LIKE MOST ARTISTS, RON PETITT HAS ALWAYS HAD THE STRONG DESIRE TO CREATE. HIS LOVE OF ART BEGAN AT A VERY EARLY AGE. HIS INTEREST IN PAINTING AND SCULPTURE WERE GREATLY INFLUENCED BY ARTISTS NORMAN ROCKWELL AND FREDERIC REMINGTON.
IN HIS FORMATIVE YEARS, RON TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ART CLASSES AND CORRESPONDENCE COURSES TO BROADEN HIS ARTISTIC SKILLS. AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, HE SERVED IN THE U.S. ARMY, INCLUDING A TOUR OF DUTY IN VIETNAM.
UPON COMPLETION OF HIS MILITARY SERVICE, RON RETURNED TO HIS HOMETOWN, WHERE HE PURSUED A FORMAL ART EDUCTION.
AS A FREELANCE ILLUSTRATOR, RON DESIGNED COMPANY LOGOS, ALBUM COVERS AND MAGAZINE ILLUSTRATIONS. IN 1980 HE BEGAN CREATING A SERIES OF COLLECTIBLE SCULPTURE.
THROUGH DEALERS AND GALLERIES, HIS WORK HAS BEEN ACQUIRED BY COLLECTORS AROUND THE WORLD.
SINCE 1990, RON HAS LIVED IN LOVELAND COLORADO, AT THE ENTRANCE TO ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK.
IN 2001, RON WAS COMMISSIONED TO CREATE A WWII AIRBORNE SCULPTURE FOR PRESENTATION TO ACTOR TOM HANKS AND DIRECTOR STEVEN SPIELBERG FOR THEIR WORK ON 'SAVING PRIVATE RYAN" AND HBO'S "BAND OF BROTHERS" .
SINCE THEN, RON HAS BEEN OFFERED COMMISSIONS TO CREATE MONUMENTS AND OTHER LIFE-SIZE SCULPTURE. HIS ABILITY TO CREATE HIGHLY DETAILED LIFE-LIKE FIGURES HAS BROUGHT HIM RECOGNITION AS ONE OF THE COUNTRY'S TRULY INNOVATIVE SCULPTOR'S.
