On April 16 2011, The State of Texas Firefighter Memorial was dedicated.
The State Memorial was sponsored by The Fire Museum of Texas, the Beaumont Texas Fire and Rescue and Firefighter's Local 399.
The highly detailed bronze Memorial, created by sculptor Ron Petitt, depicts a Fire Chief giving directions to the Firefighter at the moment they both know the Firefighter must go into a burnng structure to battle the blaze.
The State of Texas Firefighter Memorial was created to honor ALL Texas Firefighters, past, present and future.
The bronze sculptures stand nearly 6'5" tall and weigh 620 pounds. They are mounted on a black granite pedestal.
