AdventureMoto.us "Life Should Be An Adventure" |
This adventure ride was put together by Bruce Dalton and the gang over at MotoAdventure Kawasaki of Loveland/Ft. Collins. |
We all met at McDonald's for an early breakfast and to meet and greet as many of us had never ridden together. |
We had a good showing with many KLR's, a Honda XRL, two DRZ's and a Yamaha TTR. |
A quick pit stop and then we were on our way. |
A nice ride up and over Horsetooth Reservoir. |
...and a quick run through Rist Canyon. |
A Stop at Stove Prarie School for a little group travel orientation. |
The off road portion of Old Flower's Road begins. |
A good adventure ride has a little bit of everything, and a helping of mud always makes things interesting. |

With such a large group, I had to constantly ride ahead, snap some photos and then play catch up. I was surprised that there were no major spills and all the riders seemed to be having a good time in the slush. |
While there were a number of breaks, this group came to ride, and the weather was perfect! |
Down off of Flower's Road... |
...and across Pengree Pass. |
A break in the mountain town of Rustic before heading up the Poudre Canyon. |
Even the twisty pavement portions of the ride were fun! |
We were beginning to put on some milles, and with the hot sun and dusty roads it was time for another break above Chambers lake. |
There were many campers back in this area, and their vehicles made for some slow going and lots of dust. |
Our only female rider had already turned off, and of course the rest of us guys got a little "disoriented"...notice I didn't say LOST. |
Fortunately Jim Plumb had the Forest Service maps for the area we were riding in...and yep, we were not lost! Men never are! |
After several hours of riding, the heat and dust were having an effect. |
One last break before the group split into two groups. One went over 7 Mile Pass, while the other looped back over to Rustic where they would all meet up again. |
Thanks to Bruce and the guys from MotoAdventure Kawasaki for organizing a really fun ride. Let's do it again sometimes! |
